Automation of tissue culture and micropropagation

Micropropagation is one of the most powerful and applicable techniques of biotechnology which have huge benefits for agriculture sector, but not fully yet exploited. This claim comes from 15 years research about designing, fabrication and application of periodical bioreactors for micropropagation of different kinds of wood and herbal plants. Feeding system, level of autotrophy, and culture vessel atmosphere are among the very important factors affecting commercial and low cost in vitro production of healthy plants. The results so far in relation to the micropropagation of woody plants pear, red dates, walnuts, hazelnuts, pineapple, hybrids peach X almond, and sugarcane, potato, clove, rose, and stevia using periodical bioreactors all show an increase in the quality of seedlings and proliferation rates. In the most recent success of the system, for the first time, rooting in the bioreactor was achieved and the seedlings were adapted well in the greenhouse. This achievement could help to seriously reduce the cost of production.
